WARM HOMES: Knowledge platform website on residential energy efficiency

Habitat for Humanity and USAID Residential Energy Efficiency for Low Income Households (REELIH) project aims to improve living standards in multi-unit apartment buildings in Eurasia. The project focuses on combatting energy poverty so that families get warmer homes and save money on their heating bills as a result of the retrofitting of their buildings. To further promote the work of this project a new website, getwarmhomes.org has been launched – this serves as a knowledge platform to foster further knowledge sharing and policy dialogue among all the relevant actors in residential energy efficiency

COMBI – Calculating and Operationalising the Multiple Benefits of Energy Efficiency in Europe

COMBI aims at providing a graphical online tool to visualise the multiple impacts of energy efficiency and their aggregation. The multiple benefits of energy efficiency are gaining relevance, but scientific evidence is scarce. Therefore, “COMBI – Calculating and Operationalising the Multiple Benefits of Energy Efficiency in Europe” aims at quantifying the multiple non-energy benefits of energy efficiency in the EU. It will gather existing approaches and evidence and develop modelling approaches. Finally we will come up with consolidated data on different impacts of end-use energy efficiency such as: emissions; resources; social welfare; macro economy; the energy system.

RENEW SCHOOL – multinational project

The RENEW SCHOOL project aims  to retrofit school buildings to nearly zero energy buildings (nZEB) standards.  Sustainable school renovation actions build on following three focus points promoted by this project (the “RENEW SCHOOL way” of renovation): (i) Improvement of the building’s envelope by coating it with insulated prefabricated timber modules including wooden frame windows, solar shading and ventilation components; (ii) Improvement of the indoor environment quality (IEQ) by ventilating, passive cooling and daylight upgrading the classrooms; (iii) Improvement of the energy generation on site by using active renewable energy sources, beside the passive gains, integrated in the school buildings.
